Felix Kleefeld joined the Horvath Lab in 2025 as a German Research Foundation (DFG) Walter Benjamin Fellow. He is a board-certified neurologist specialized in neuromuscular disorders, with a broad interest in the molecular mechanisms linking mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, and muscle degeneration. His research combines translational and clinical approaches, integrating data from primary muscle cell culture models, histopathology, electron microscopy, and patient-derived clinical datasets. Through this multi-level perspective, Felix aims to better understand disease mechanisms in both hereditary and acquired muscle disorders and to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
